Low Vision
We use this term to cover any visual impairment the result of which is a reduction in sharpness of vision, and a blurring of the field of vision. Alternative terms may include short- or long-sightedness, or myopia. A common cause of low vision is cataracts; though in reality many of the conditions that result in a reduced field of vision may also result in low vision.
In many cases, the impact of low vision may be alleviated by the use of corrective lenses, although, of course the impairment is made worse when someone forgets to wear their glasses or lenses!
